Online Course

Start Statistics

Get started with learning Python, a very powerful programming language now a standard in many fields such as machine learning. Learning Python will be your head start for learning statistics. The one-day course is free of charge.

Beginner Python

This course is for those who have no experience in programming and Python and would like to start with it.

We will cover some basic concepts, focussed on future application in performing statistical analysis of experimental data. We will see how to upload and save csv files, how to use the basic but very powerful tools such as Numpy, Pandas, matplolib, Seaborn, Scipy to manipulate, transform and represent your data. Furthermore, we will also look at some visualization tools as well. All this within the Jupyter Notebook environment.

This course is open to everybody who is starting or just wants to start learning Python.
In the future, you will be able to increase your level of proficiency by learning more tools to perform professional statistical analysis of experimental data. Participants will receive a copy of the lecture notes and a copy of the Jupyter Notebooks.

This course will take place on February 4th, 2025. We will start at 9am and finish at 4pm, including a lunch break and several short breaks.

Angelo Valleriani

Theoretical physicist turned into a multidisciplinary scientist

I’ve been inspired by a diverse range of topics like malaria, cancer, and gene expression, applying this knowledge in my teachings. My teaching now focuses on applied statistics, where I blend theory and experiment to elucidate the math behind randomness. Despite my affinity for the mathematical details, I understand the importance of intuition in teaching. On this website, I offer courses designed for those who are curious or preparing for a professional course, aiming to make complex statistical theories accessible to all.
